Story
Angel Cat Sugar, a new character by the creator of “Hello Kitty”, Yuko Shimizu, was introduced in Japan in 2002. Angel Cat Sugar merchandise made its debut in 2004, at the Kiddyland stores, one of Japan’s largest and most popular character-goods specialty stores. The line of merchandise includes over 100 categories with items now carried in many other retail shops in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Angel Cat Sugar was also selected as the mascot for a popular TV program in Japan in 2004 and is known as a cute loveable character that appeals to a large segment of the population.
Angel Cat Sugar is the first new character of Yuko Shimizu since 28 years!
The story is based upon the good life of Angel Cat Sugar. Sugar is a princess of the Angel world. Because she is a princess of the Angel world, Sugar has the power to heal hurt feelings. Though a bit introverted, Sugar makes many friends thanks to her three mice friends Thyme, Parsley and Basil, and has countless wonderful experiences.
Sugar’s background story
Growing up with her parents’ love, Sugar has become a kind and loving cat. She is, however, a little bit shy and prefers to do quiet things, like studying, listening to music and reading books instead of running and playing. She also likes to play with the three mice Thyme, Parsley and Basil who have become her best friends.
Sugar loves to look at the shining stars, the beautiful moon and the sun up in the sky. She also loves the forest, where lovely birds sing, and she loves the river where the fish swim. Because she loves everything in nature, all the animals and the trees of the forest are Sugar’s friends.
Creator
Artist and character designer, Mrs. Shimizu, graduated from Musashino Art University with an oil-painting major. Working for Sanrio Company, she created “ Hello Kitty,” “ Happiness Balloon,” “Koro-chan” and “Honey-chan.” She and her extremely popular creation, “Hello Kitty,” share the same birthday, November 1. As a freelance designer, in 2002 she released a new character, “Angel Cat Sugar.”
